I hope everyone's well and many thanks to everyone who helped steer me right with my previous question.
Research is going rather well, coming across some interesting stories within the Irish context. This being one of them. Have come across references to an Irish Amateur Weightlifting Association emerging in 1902 but little seems to have been done on it. It was envisioned as a part of the British Amateur Weightlifting Association or so it seems.
Does anyone have any ideas about what may have happened to it? As far as I can tell, it held one or two events before folding. It wasn't until the mid-century that the idea was then revived.
A W.A. MacPherson would later write about it in Health & Vim in 1916. Stating that the support wasn't there. Aside from that I've found some newspaper clippings about events held in Northern Ireland in 1902.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
