The Cowboy Kings/Rulers of the Range By Peter Yates, HOPC Editor-in-Chief

Growing up i was fascinated hearing my father recount tales of his childhood movie heroes. A few of these made a name for themselves in the new genre of western films, the good guys (who mostly were white) against the bad guys (who mostly wore black). Two of the most popular of the era were TOM MIX and BUCK JONES ,names i often heard my father mention. In some ways they were quite similar, both had backgrounds in hard physical labor, equestrian skills and life long interest in Physical Culture. They also both had untimely deaths.
